Green Pit Viper

The 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐢𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫 (𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐬), the 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞-𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐢𝐭 𝐯𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫 or 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞-𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫, is a 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬 pit viper species endemic to 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚. It's 𝐦𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐭𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 in 𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 is 𝟔𝟎𝟎 𝐦𝐦 and in 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 is 𝟖𝟏𝟎 𝐦𝐦. It is found in 𝐍𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐥, 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚, 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡, 𝐌𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫, 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐚, 𝐋𝐚𝐨𝐬, 𝐕𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐧𝐚𝐦, 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚, 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠, 𝐌𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐮, and 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚. Its meals consist of 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐝𝐬, 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐬, and 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬. This snake 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧'𝐭 strike and release its prey, like many 𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬, rather 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐢𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬.

 The 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐞 (𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬) is a 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦-𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝  bird of prey in the family 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐞. Black kites can be distinguished from red kites by the 𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞, 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥 and 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐫𝐮𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐬. The sexes are 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 though the 𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 is a little 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 and 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 . They weigh on average 𝟕𝟑𝟓 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬. The 𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 is 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 but the 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 and 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐤 tend to be 𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐫.The 𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 of the body are 𝐩𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧, becoming 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 towards the 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧. The 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥 is 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 , the 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐬 are 𝐲𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 and the 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐬 are 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤.. They have a distinctive 𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 followed by a 𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥.Their 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐧 is around 𝟏𝟓𝟎 𝐜𝐦.  𝐀𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 (𝐎𝐫𝐲𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐫) are 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦-𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝, 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 mammals native to 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚. They have a 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐭, similar to that of a pig, which is used to 𝐬𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝.The aardvark is sometimes colloquially called the "𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐫". The aardvark is vaguely 𝐩𝐢𝐠-𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 in appearance.  𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐤𝐞 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞, is a 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 in the 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 of 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡 in 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚. The 𝟖𝟔𝟐 𝐤𝐦^𝟐 reserve was known as 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐡𝐮𝐢 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞, but renamed in 𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟏 by the 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡. 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐤𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 lies in the 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 of the 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬 in 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡'𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐤𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 at elevations ranging from 𝟏𝟓𝟎 to 𝟐,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐦.It is bounded by 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢 or 𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 in the 𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐭 and 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡, and by 𝐏𝐚𝐤𝐤𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 in the 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭.
