Bhitarkanika National Park

 𝐁𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 is a 𝟏𝟒𝟓 𝐤𝐦^𝟐 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤 in 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 in 𝐎𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐚 in 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚.It was 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 on 𝟏𝟔 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟖 and obtained the 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐬 of a 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐚𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 on 𝟏𝟗 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟐. The 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚 has also been 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 as the 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐦𝐬𝐚𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 of the 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 after the 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐋𝐚𝐤𝐞. It is 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 by 𝐁𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲, which 𝐬𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 over 𝟔𝟕𝟐 𝐤𝐦^𝟐. The 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 comprises 𝐯𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 and 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 leading to 𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐚𝐬 - all of which 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐠𝐞 to the 𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐞.  𝐇𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐢, sometimes known as the 𝐋𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐚 𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐠, is a species of frog in the 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐞. It is 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 in 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐚 and 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 to 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐚 and the 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 and 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐬 of 𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚 and 𝐄𝐜𝐮𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫, also in the 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐕𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐲 of 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚. 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰 to 𝟐𝟒 𝐦𝐦 and 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 to 𝟐𝟔 𝐦𝐦 in 𝐬𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐭–𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡. The 𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐮𝐦 is 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰, with 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 the 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬.  They are 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬, their 𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐭 mainly including 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 like 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬, 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐬, 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬, and 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐬. The 𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞 or 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝-𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 (𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐱) is a 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 and 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 of the 𝐯𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲, 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 in the 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 and 𝐌𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐜𝐨. Like all other 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 and 𝐯𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬, it is 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬. It is likely 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 for the 𝐦𝐚𝐣𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 of 𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 in 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐜𝐨 and the 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 of 𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 in the 𝐔.𝐒. 𝐀𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐬 commonly 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰 to 𝟏𝟐𝟎 𝐜𝐦 in 𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡.  𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 become 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫 than 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬. 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 of this species considered 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦-𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡 up to 𝟏.𝟐𝟑 to 𝟐.𝟕 𝐤𝐠.The 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 generally consists of a 𝐤𝐡𝐚𝐤𝐢 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫, but it may also be 𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐡 or 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰, 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐜...

 The 𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐭 (𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐚) is a  𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 and 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 in the 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐭 and 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲, 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐞. They 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝 in 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 and 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 the 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜 to 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 then on to the 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐫 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭. It is a 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 and 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 in 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 or 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚. Some remain to 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 in the 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 of their 𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞, for example in 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧 and 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝.  The 𝐣𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐭 (𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐬), also called 𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐭 and 𝐬𝐰𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐜𝐚𝐭, is a 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦-𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 from the 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 and 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐬 to 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 of 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥, 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 and 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚. It is listed as 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧 on the 𝐈𝐔𝐂𝐍 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭, and is mainly 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 by 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 of 𝐰𝐞𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. The jungle cat is a 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦-𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝, 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐭, and the 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 of the 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬.
