Cassowary

๐‚๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ are ๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ birds of the genus ๐‚๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฌ in the order ๐‚๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐ข๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ž๐ฌ. 

Cassowaries are found in the tropical forests of ๐๐ž๐ฐ ๐†๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐š, ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐Œ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐œ๐œ๐š๐ฌ, and ๐ง๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ง ๐€๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐š.

The Southern cassowary is the ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ซ๐ ๐ญ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ and ๐ฌ๐ž๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ฏ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ living bird.


Cassowary diet consists of ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ ,๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐ญ ๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ญ๐ฌ,๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ž๐๐ฌ,๐ž๐ ๐ ๐ฌ, ๐›๐ข๐ซ๐๐ฌ,๐ฌ๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ, ๐ฌ๐ง๐š๐ค๐ž๐ฌ, ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐š๐ซ๐๐ฌ.

Females are larger and more brightly coloured than the males. 

Adult southern cassowaries are ๐Ÿ’ ๐Ÿ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐จ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ, although some females may reach  ๐Ÿ” ๐Ÿ๐ญ .

The cassowary is ๐€๐ฌ๐ข๐š'๐ฌ ๐ฅ๐š๐ซ๐ ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ ๐›๐ข๐ซ๐ .

Cassowaries have ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐ž๐ž ๐ญ๐จ๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ž๐ญ with ๐ฌ๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ฉ ๐œ๐ฅ๐š๐ฐ๐ฌ.The inner toe has a ๐๐š๐ ๐ ๐ž๐ซ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ค๐ž ๐œ๐ฅ๐š๐ฐ that may be ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“ ๐ฆ๐ฆ long.This claw is particularly fearsome, since cassowaries sometimes kick humans and other animals with their powerful legs. 

Cassowaries can run at up to ๐Ÿ“๐ŸŽ ๐ค๐ฆ ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ ๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ and can jump up to ๐Ÿ.๐Ÿ“ ๐ฆ. They are good swimmers.

The lifespan of wild cassowaries is approximately ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ– ๐ญ๐จ ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ ๐ฒ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐ฌ.



Cassowaries are solitary birds except during courtship, egg-laying, and when they are around ample food supplies.

 Males and females each maintain separate territories of a size of approximately ๐Ÿ‘ ๐ฌ๐ช๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ค๐ข๐ฅ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ.

Cassowaries feed on the fruit of several hundred species of rainforest trees and usually pass viable seeds in large, dense scats. They are known to disperse seeds over kilometres long distances, thus playing an important role in the ecosystem.
