 𝐄𝐝𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭 was an 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐨-𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫 . He was born to 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭 and 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭 on 𝟐𝟓 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟏𝟖𝟕𝟓 in 𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥,a hill station in 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚. Corbett spent much of his childhood exploring the jungles around 𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 and from these explorations and willing adults such as his eldest brother Tom, and a nearby headman named Kunwar Singh, he gained intimate knowledge of the habits of the local wildlife. 𝐂𝐀𝐔𝐒𝐄𝐒 - Research on poaching indicates that people poach for 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧, 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 and 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 . 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 of 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 are also in demand for 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞 and 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬.  The existence of an 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 for poached wildlife implies that 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐬 of 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 poachers enter vulnerable areas to hunt, and crime syndicates organise the 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 of wildlife body parts through a 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 to market...

 The 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐠, also known as 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐠 , is a species of poison dart frog endemic to the 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐜ó 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 of 𝐰𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐚. It's scientific name is 𝐎𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚. The frog is normally found on the ground of 𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬, among fallen limbs or leaf litter. The harlequin poison frog has an average 𝐬𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 length of 𝟑𝟐.𝟗 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬. The harlequin poison frog lives on the 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐫.  The 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐚 is an 𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐠𝐠 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫. Adults feed on 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 on the ground after sunrise. This terrestrial frog lives in 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬, where it has been observed between 𝟑𝟎𝟎 and 𝟕𝟎𝟎 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬  above sea level. It produces 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐧𝐬 known as 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐧𝐬.  The 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐯𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐫, also called the 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐫, is a viper species found in the 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐬 and 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐬 of 𝐬𝐮𝐛 𝐒𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚. Like all vipers, it is 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬.  It has the 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 fangs of any venomous snake. Adults are typically 𝟒 𝐭𝐨 𝟓 𝐟𝐭 in total length .  It is the heaviest 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐬 snake in 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚. The Gaboon viper is usually found in rainforests and nearby woodlands, mainly at low altitudes, but sometimes as high as 1500 m above sea level. Mostly 𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥, Gaboon vipers are known for being 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐝.  They usually hunt by ambush, often spending long periods motionless, waiting for suitable prey to pass by.
