Gaboon Viper

 The ๐†๐š๐›๐จ๐จ๐ง ๐ฏ๐ข๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ, also called the ๐†๐š๐›๐จ๐จ๐ง ๐š๐๐๐ž๐ซ, is a viper species found in the ๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ง๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ and ๐ฌ๐š๐ฏ๐š๐ง๐ง๐š๐ฌ of ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐› ๐’๐š๐ก๐š๐ซ๐š๐ง ๐€๐Ÿ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐š. Like all vipers, it is ๐ฏ๐ž๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ. 

It has the ๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ fangs of any venomous snake.

Adults are typically ๐Ÿ’ ๐ญ๐จ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ๐ญ in total length .

 It is the heaviest ๐ฏ๐ž๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ snake in ๐€๐Ÿ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐š.



The Gaboon viper is usually found in rainforests and nearby woodlands, mainly at low altitudes, but sometimes as high as 1500 m above sea level.

Mostly ๐ง๐จ๐œ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ฅ, Gaboon vipers are known for being ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐  and ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐š๐œ๐ข๐. 

They usually hunt by ambush, often spending long periods motionless, waiting for suitable prey to pass by.

They feed on a variety of prey such as ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ฌ, ๐ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐š๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฐ๐ฅ and  ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐š๐ง๐œ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ. They also hunt ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ž๐ฅ๐ ๐ฆ๐ข๐œ๐ž and ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ฌ, as well as ๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ and ๐ซ๐š๐›๐›๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ. Some unique prey items, such as ๐ญ๐ซ๐ž๐ž ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง๐ค๐ž๐ฒ๐ฌ, the ๐†๐š๐ฆ๐›๐ข๐š๐ง ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฎ๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ญ, the ๐›๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ก ๐ญ๐š๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ข๐ง๐ž, and the ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ซ๐จ๐ฒ๐š๐ฅ ๐š๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ž have been reported.
