He was born to ๐‚๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐–๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ข๐š๐ฆ ๐‚๐จ๐ซ๐›๐ž๐ญ๐ญ and ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐‰๐š๐ง๐ž ๐‚๐จ๐ซ๐›๐ž๐ญ๐ญ on ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“ ๐‰๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ–๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ“ in ๐๐š๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ฅ,a hill station in ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ง ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š. Corbett spent much of his childhood exploring the jungles around ๐๐š๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ฅ and from these explorations and willing adults such as his eldest brother Tom, and a nearby headman named Kunwar Singh, he gained intimate knowledge of the habits of the local wildlife. He also began hunting, first with projectile weapons such as catapults and pellet bows, until being gifted an old muzzle-loading shotgun at the age of ๐ž๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ.

Throughout his life, Corbett tracked and shot several ๐ฅ๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐๐ฌ and ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ, about a ๐๐จ๐ณ๐ž๐ง were well documented ๐ฆ๐š๐ง-๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ. He was frequently called upon by the Government of the ๐”๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐€๐ ๐ซ๐š ๐š๐ง๐ ๐Ž๐ฎ๐๐ก to kill ๐ฆ๐š๐ง ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ and ๐ฅ๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐๐ฌ that were attacking people. Corbett provided estimates of human casualties in his books.According to Corbett's accounts, these big cats had killed more than ๐Ÿ,๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง, ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง, and ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ง.The first designated man-eating tiger he killed, the ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ฆ๐ฉ๐š๐ฐ๐š๐ญ ๐“๐ข๐ ๐ž๐ซ, was responsible for an estimated ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ” ๐๐จ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ก๐ฌ.Other notable man-eaters he killed were the ๐“๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ๐š-๐ƒ๐ž๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐š๐ง-๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ, the ๐Œ๐จ๐ก๐š๐ง ๐ฆ๐š๐ง-๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ, the ๐“๐ก๐š๐ค ๐ฆ๐š๐ง-๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ, the ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ค๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ๐š๐ซ ๐ฆ๐š๐ง-๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ, the ๐‚๐ก๐จ๐ฐ๐ ๐š๐ซ๐ก ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ, the ๐๐š๐ง๐š๐ซ ๐‹๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ and the ๐ฆ๐š๐ง-๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐‹๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‘๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐š๐ฉ๐ซ๐š๐ฒ๐š๐ . Corbett preferred to hunt alone and on foot when pursuing dangerous game. He often hunted with ๐‘๐จ๐›๐ข๐ง, a small dog he wrote about in Man-Eaters of Kumaon.

Corbett was at the ๐“๐ซ๐ž๐ž๐ญ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฌ, a hut built on the branches of a giant ficus tree, as the bodyguard of ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐„๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐š๐›๐ž๐ญ๐ก when she stayed there on ๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ” ๐…๐ž๐›๐ซ๐ฎ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ. That night, her father, ๐Š๐ข๐ง๐  ๐†๐ž๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ž ๐•๐ˆ died, and Elizabeth ascended to the throne. 

He recounted his hunts and experiences in books like ๐Œ๐š๐ง-๐„๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐Š๐ฎ๐ฆ๐š๐จ๐ง, which enjoyed commercial success. His book Man-eaters of Kumaon was a great success in ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š, the ๐”๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐Š๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ, and the  ๐”๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ž๐ ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ and was later translated into ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ• ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฎ๐š๐ ๐ž๐ฌ.Corbett's fourth book, ๐‰๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ž ๐‹๐จ๐ซ๐ž, is considered his autobiography.

He also spoke out for the need to protect India's wildlife from extermination.The ๐‰๐ข๐ฆ ๐‚๐จ๐ซ๐›๐ž๐ญ๐ญ ๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ ๐๐š๐ซ๐ค in ๐”๐ญ๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐š๐ค๐ก๐š๐ง๐, ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š was renamed in his honour in ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ•. He had played a key role in establishing this protected area in the 1930s.In ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ–, one of the five remaining subspecies of tigers was named after him: ๐๐š๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐š ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ ๐œ๐จ๐ซ๐›๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ข, the ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐จ๐œ๐ก๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ž ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ž๐ซ, also called ๐‚๐จ๐ซ๐›๐ž๐ญ๐ญ'๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ข๐ ๐ž๐ซ.

Corbett died of a heart attack aged ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ—,on ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ— ๐€๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฅ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“ at ๐๐ฒ๐ž๐ซ๐ข,๐Š๐ž๐ง๐ฒ๐š.He was buried at ๐’๐ญ. ๐๐ž๐ญ๐ž๐ซ'๐ฌ ๐€๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ง ๐‚๐ก๐ฎ๐ซ๐œ๐ก in ๐๐ฒ๐ž๐ซ๐ข.
