Zebra

Zebras are 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 with distinctive 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 and 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐞𝐝 .Zebras share the genus 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐮𝐬 with 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 and 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬, the three groups being the only living members of the family 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐞.

There are 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 species of zebras:the 𝐆𝐫é𝐯𝐲'𝐬 𝐳𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚, the 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐳𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚, and the 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐳𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚.

Zebras inhabit 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 and 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚 and can be found in a variety of habitats such as 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐡𝐬, 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐬𝐡𝐫𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬.Zebras may travel or 𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 to 𝐰𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 areas during the 𝐝𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧.

Zebras are primarily 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐬 and can subsist on lower quality vegetation.A zebra's diet is mostly 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 and 𝐬𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬, but they may also consume 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐤, 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐬, 𝐟𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐬, and 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬.

Zebras have 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐬 with 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠, 𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬.Their dentition is adapted for 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠.

Zebras are easily recognised by their 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 patterns.Striping patterns are 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 to an individual and 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞.

𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 and 𝐤𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 are a zebra's 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞 tactics. The 𝐦𝐚𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 of a zebra is about 𝟓𝟎 𝐤𝐦/𝐡.

The 𝐈𝐔𝐂𝐍 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐬 lists 𝐆𝐫é𝐯𝐲'𝐬 𝐳𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚 as 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝, the 𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐳𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚 as 𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 and the 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐳𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚 as 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝. Zebras are threatened by 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 for their 𝐡𝐢𝐝𝐞 and 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐭, and 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.
