Common Krait

 The ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐จ๐ง ๐Š๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ญ (๐๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐š๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐œ๐š๐ž๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฎ๐ฌ), also known as ๐๐ž๐ง๐ ๐š๐ฅ ๐ค๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ญ, is a species of ๐ก๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ž๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ snakes of the genus ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐š๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ in the ๐„๐ฅ๐š๐ฉ๐ข๐๐š๐ž family, native to the ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š๐ง ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐›๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ง๐ญ. It is one of the ๐๐ข๐  ๐…๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š๐ง ๐ฌ๐ง๐š๐ค๐ž๐ฌ that inflict the most snakebites on humans in ๐๐š๐ค๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง, ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š and ๐๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐š๐๐ž๐ฌ๐ก.


The average length of the common krait is ๐ŸŽ.๐Ÿ— ๐ฆ.Their coloration is generally ๐›๐ฅ๐š๐œ๐ค or ๐›๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก-๐›๐ฅ๐š๐œ๐ค, with about ๐Ÿ’๐ŸŽ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ง, ๐ฐ๐ก๐ข๐ญ๐ž ๐œ๐ซ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐›๐š๐ซ๐ฌ.

This common krait is distributed from ๐’๐ข๐ง๐๐ก to ๐–๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ž๐ง๐ ๐š๐ฅ, throughout ๐’๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š, and ๐’๐ซ๐ข ๐‹๐š๐ง๐ค๐š, at elevations up to about ๐Ÿ,๐Ÿ”๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ ๐ฆ. It has also been recorded in ๐๐š๐ค๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง, ๐€๐Ÿ๐ ๐ก๐š๐ง๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ง, ๐ˆ๐ซ๐š๐ง, ๐๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐š๐๐ž๐ฌ๐ก, and ๐๐ž๐ฉ๐š๐ฅ.It lives in a wide variety of habitats, from ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ž๐ฅ๐๐ฌ and ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ ๐ฌ๐œ๐ซ๐ฎ๐› ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ž to ๐ฌ๐ž๐ญ๐ญ๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐š๐ซ๐ž๐š๐ฌ. It rests in ๐ญ๐ž๐ซ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ž ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ฌ, ๐›๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐ค ๐ฉ๐ข๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ, ๐ซ๐š๐ญ ๐ก๐จ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ, and even ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ž ๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ.

The common krait feeds primarily on ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐ฌ๐ง๐š๐ค๐ž๐ฌ, and ๐œ๐š๐ง๐ง๐ข๐›๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐ž๐ฌ on ๐จ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ ๐ค๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ญ๐ฌ. It also feeds on ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐š๐ฆ๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ such as ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ฌ and ๐ฆ๐ข๐œ๐ž, ๐ฅ๐ข๐ณ๐š๐ซ๐๐ฌ, and ๐Ÿ๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ฌ. The young are known to eat  ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ๐จ๐๐ฌ and the ๐›๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ๐ง๐š๐ค๐ž๐ฌ.

The common krait is ๐ง๐จ๐œ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ฅ, so seldom encounters humans during daylight, incidents occur mainly ๐š๐ญ ๐ง๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ.Cause of death is general ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ข๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐š๐ข๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž, ๐ข.๐ž. ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐จ๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง.
