Indian Pond Heron

 The ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š๐ง ๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐จ๐ง or ๐ฉ๐š๐๐๐ฒ๐›๐ข๐ซ๐ (๐€๐ซ๐๐ž๐จ๐ฅ๐š ๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ฒ๐ข๐ข) is a small heron. It is of ๐Ž๐ฅ๐ ๐–๐จ๐ซ๐ฅ๐ origins, breeding in ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ง ๐ˆ๐ซ๐š๐ง and ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ญ to the ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š๐ง ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐›๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ง๐ญ, ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฆ๐š, and ๐’๐ซ๐ข ๐‹๐š๐ง๐ค๐š.


Indian pond herons are stocky with ๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐ง๐ž๐œ๐ค๐ฌ, ๐ฌ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐œ๐ค ๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฌ and ๐›๐ฎ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ-๐›๐ซ๐จ๐ฐ๐ง ๐›๐š๐œ๐ค๐ฌ. . In ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ, adults have ๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐  ๐ง๐ž๐œ๐ค ๐Ÿ๐ž๐š๐ญ๐ก๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ. During the ๐›๐ซ๐ž๐ž๐๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐จ๐ง, there are records of individuals with ๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐ฌ. 

They are very common in ๐ˆ๐ง๐๐ข๐š, and are usually ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐š๐ ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ but numbers of them may sometimes feed in close proximity during the ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ when ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐ž๐ญ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐๐ฌ have a ๐ก๐ข๐ ๐ก ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ž๐ฒ.

The Indian pond heron's feeding habitat is ๐ฆ๐š๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ž๐ญ๐ฅ๐š๐ง๐๐ฌ. The primary food of these birds includes ๐œ๐ซ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐œ๐ž๐š๐ง๐ฌ, ๐š๐ช๐ฎ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐œ ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ, ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐ฌ, ๐ญ๐š๐๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ and sometimes ๐ฅ๐ž๐ž๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ฌ. Outside wetlands, these herons feed on  ๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ like ๐œ๐ซ๐ข๐œ๐ค๐ž๐ญ๐ฌ, ๐๐ซ๐š๐ ๐จ๐ง๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ and ๐›๐ž๐ž๐ฌ, ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก and ๐š๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ก๐ข๐›๐ข๐š๐ง๐ฌ.
