Habitat Loss

 𝐇𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐬𝐬 occurs when a 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭 is 𝐧𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 to 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 its 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬. The organisms once living there have either 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞, or are 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝, leading to a 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 in 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 and 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬. Habitat destruction is in fact 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞.Humans contribute to habitat destruction through the 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 and 𝐮𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Common Mist Frog

 The 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐠 (𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚 𝐫𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐚) is a species of 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐠 native to 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡-𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚. It is a 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦-𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐠  and a member of the 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐠 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩. Fully grown common mist frogs can measure anywhere from 𝟐𝟕 to 𝟒𝟏 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 in length and often weigh between 𝟏.𝟐 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟒.𝟓 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐬. The common mist frog displays 𝐬𝐞𝐱𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐦, meaning that 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐱 𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫, in this case, the 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬. Whereas males measure at around 𝟑𝟏 𝐦𝐦 in length, the female mist frog is on average 𝟑𝟔 𝐦𝐦 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠.  The 𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐞 (𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐮𝐬) is a 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦-𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 bird of prey in the family 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐞, which also includes many other 𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬 such as 𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐛𝐮𝐳𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬, and 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬.
